Hi My name is Tia. In December 2009 I decided to start painting abstract art. i was always fascinated by the art pieces that had a resin finish so i tried it with 3 painting however the problem that I have is that when the resin dried it bubbled and created a rain drop effect. Because the paints were abstract the rain drop look (happy accident) was actually pretty cool. I watched your youtube video on applying resin and it seems so simple and straight forward. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong. I am painting with acrylic paints. I considered that perhaps i didn’t mix the resin well or add the correct amounts. How important is that?
Yes the mixing ratios you use are EXTREMELY important! It must be accurate or else it won’t work… although the effect you got out of it does sound pretty cool! I’d say just try it again and be picky about your measuring.
I’m having problems as well! I just burnt my painting with a heat gun 🙁 but it was my first try so I saw some problem coming! My epoxy wasn’t as liquidy but I’m hoping when I buy a gallon in bulk from artresin.com it will be more like the one you use.
I love your work. Thank you for all your advice! You and Dave are such an inspiration to me through your videos. cheers!
Tia Try working on the air bubbles more.
Hold the heat gun farther away, or use the straw and have patience. They will come out.
